CV conventions vary internationally. A UK CV is usually concise and focused on evidence of skills.
Common conventions
- Usually two pages or fewer for early-career roles.
- A photograph, date of birth and marital status are generally not included.
- Reverse chronological order for education and experience.
Show, don't list
Instead of "good communication skills", describe what you did: "Led weekly updates for a six-person project team." Specific actions and outcomes are more convincing than adjectives.
Tailor every application
Read the job description closely and make sure your CV clearly shows the skills it asks for, using similar language where it is honest to do so.
